English Paper Piecing - Have you considered learning English Paper Piecing, but wanted a project not so traditional or larger than a 3/4” hexie? We have a new block of the month for you with a monthly sit and sew and you don’t have to bring your machine! We will be making quilt-lets that finish at 4” each month .We will be using the book “The New Hexagon”, by Katja Marek. Each month you will receive the paper templates for 4 or more quilt-lets. Cost per month of the Block of the Month will be $20 a month for seven months. This will include all 12 months of the paper templates and the required book.

Do you need a quick baby quilt? Looking for something bright and fun? Choose either of these patterns, both use the same easy applique method. You should be able to complete either of these in no time at all. Brooke will get you started from 10 -2, but if you would like to continue to work on your project, you are welcome to stay until 5:00

With the right fabric choices, this is a great pattern for a guy’s quilt or a way to show off some of those large print patterns that you never know how to use. Plan to make it a day of sewing and stay until 4:00 and continue to sew on your own after 2:00.

Spend the day stitching at Sunshine Stitches. This is open sewing – you can’t do laundry, clean the house, or any of the other things that interfere with our stitching! We will provide beverages and great company!

Do you have a bunch of scraps that you are looking for a good way to use? Have you wanted to make a string quilt? If you answered yes to either of these questions, we have just the class for you! This pattern comes from the book String Quilt Revival. Sam has added her own little touch to this pattern so check out the sample we have hanging in the store. Class is from 10-2, but the classroom will be available for you to continue working until 5.

Machine Embroidery – We heard so many comments from our customers about all they had to get done before Christmas last year, we thought that we would try to help you spread your creativity throughout the year. We have set aside the 4th Thursday of the month for our Embroidery Workshop. The classroom will be available from 10 – 4 and Bonnie will be here from 10-2 each month to help you with your projects. Many of you have a list of machine embroidery items that you did not complete in time for last Christmas, but for those that are starting fresh this year, we will have some ideas to get you started.

Do you own Floriani Software? Join our Floriani User Group on the 2nd Saturday of the month from 10:00am -11:30am. This group will watch a short video that teaches different ways to use the software. After the video we discuss the project, hold an open forum to learn from each other, and show and tell any projects you have been working on and/or completed.

Summer is coming! Check out Brooke’s latest tote, a generous size all-purpose tote. Use it on vacation, take to the beach, or fill it for a picnic. Bring your lunch and put it in our refrigerator or we have a number of places nearby to pick something up.

We have had so many comments on this quilt since we put it on display. Join Sam to learn how to make the petals for this fabulous quilt. The class room will be available until 4:00 if you would like to stay after class and keep working on your quilt.

Sign up for our Seasonal Silhouettes Block of the Month and come and work on your blocks. Becky or Brooke will be in the classroom showing you how they created the store sample and helping you as you complete these beautiful blocks by Edyta Sitar. Once you have completed the 12 blocks you can put them together to make one large quilt, create 3 smaller wall hangings or finish each one individually. The class fee includes the fabric and Steam a Seam for that month’s block. Book purchase is required.

The Omaha Modern Quilt Guild was established in 2012 to help promote the modern quilting movement in the Omaha area. Our guild is focused on developing the modern aesthetic of quilting within our members and our community. Modern quilting is a new and rapidly growing movement in the quilting world. We welcome all quilters to come to our meetings. Whether you are experienced in modern design, or just looking to expand your quilting horizons please come join us. It is our hope that you will leave embracing this new movement and ready to create something unique.

Our purpose is simply to assemble quilt tops for veterans and service members touched by war. You can bring your own Quilts of Valor project to work on, or you can work on a Quilt kit that will be provided. Come prepared for a fun day of quilting. The Quilts of Valor group meets on the 1st Wednesday each month from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm and the 3rd Thursday from 6:00 pm -9:00 pm.
